For me, the reunion began the evening of April 24th in the Bailey Hotel in Bunkie, Louisiana. With help I discovered that we are descendants of Joseph Leonidas Robert. Joseph was the fourth son of Captain Peter Robert and Anne Grimball and was born in French Santee, South Carolina about 1770. Captain Peter Robert was the second of seven children born to Jocques Robert and his wife, Sarah Jaudon. His grandparents were Pierre Robert II and his second wife, Judith Videaul, and his great grandparents were the Rev. Pierre Robert and his wife, Jeanne Braye. Joseph Leonidas Robert married Mary Hyrne Jaudon about 1798. Joseph and Mary left South Carolina about 1804 and came to Wilkinson county, Mississippi, settling on Bayou Sarah near Woodville.
James Bordeaux Jaudon Robert, fifth child of Joseph L. Robert and Mary Hyrne Jaudon, was born in Wilkinson county, Mississippi, about 1814. He was brought to Louisiana by his parents when quite young and spent the balance of his life on Bayou Boeuf, near Cheneyville, in Rapides parish. He there married Martha Ester Pearce, daughter of Stephen Pearce, and his first wife, Sally Goodwin Bray. Twelve children were born to James and Martha.
William Slaughter Robert, third child of James Bordeaux Jaudon Robert and Martha Ester Pearce, was born near Cheneyville, Louisiana about 1840. He was known to his friends as "Doc Robert." His first wife was Jane Taylor, by whom he had two children: William Taylor Jaudon Robert and Lena Robert. William's second wife was Eunice Bailey, daughter of Walter Bailey and Margret Gertrude Allen. Four children were born to William and Eunice: Ethel Robert, Octavia Robert, Tuzette Robert and Eunice Robert. Ethel and Octavia were twins.
